Free Rein’s Khosnu’s Illusive Moon is a 2016 leopard stallion by Kakos Crazy Heart and out of Little Wheels Bosses Lucky Seven. Khosnu is heterozygous for both PATN1 and LP, meaning that he has one copy of each. As a young weanling colt he was shown throughout Alberta, earning himself the all star title of grand overall 2019 Canadian colt, top 5 national wide 2019 colts and top 5 Canadian multi coloured horse.
His sire, Kakos Crazy Heart was imported to Canada from North Carolina as a young horse and has produced a wonderful array of correct and colourful miniature appaloosa foals. Though he has no show titles to his name his pedigree boasts proven show horses through and through. Kakos Crazy Heart’s sire is Blue Chips Scorpius Masterpiece. He is sired by Blue Chips Attractions Masterpiece whom himself is an AMHA top ten national champion halter horse. Scorpius was out of Souts Lady Bug, a producer of top-quality show foals, including well known, Little Kings Bacardi Buckeroo, by Buckeroo. She was also the double bred granddaughter of Stouts Mister Pride, the sire of Dell Teras Moon Man, who sired 2 National Champions. Stouts Mister pride was also the full brother to Ramundo and Ayers Mini Red Man, both well respected miniature horses. Blue Chips Attractions Masterpiece is a son of Brewers Orion Main Attraction whom was a 3X AMHA National Champion in Halter, Futurity & Multi-Color classes. He is also a direct son of legendary, Orion Light Van't Huttenest. Orion was a 3X National Champion and over his lifetime he produced 7 National Grand Champions, 3 Reserve National Grand Champions, 25 National Champions, 19 Reserve National Champions, and 65 National Top ten titled horses. Blue Chips Attractions Masterpiece is double bred Orion with his dam, Bryland Farms Seagrams Charm, a granddaughter of Orion on her sire’s side. Orion’s pedigree goes back many generations to some well respected and famed foundation Shetland bred stock. Kakos Crazy Heart’s dam, Mardi Gras Order Of Pixie Dust has a pedigree full of impressive horses herself. Her sire, Mardi Gras Order Of Polka Dots is a national top 10 stallion. She is a granddaughter of Crescents Rhett Butter, by Crescents Sparkey whom happens to be a direct son of Double O Seven and a Half Moto. Double O Seven and a Half Moto was a National Grand Champion Stallion, well respected for his time.
Free Rein’s Khonsu’s Illusive Moon’s Dam was Little Wheels Bosses Lucky Seven, whom we were privileged enough to know in her last few years here at Free Rein Equine before she passed of Colic. Seven’s sire was Little Kings Bay Boss, whom is a direct son of and double bred Komokos Teenie Jeanie top and bottom. Teenie Jeanie has been hailed as a legendary mare by AMHA standards in an article released in 2007. This mare became a national grand champion at 10 years of age, just half way through her broodmare career. This little mare produced many national grand and reserve champions, some of the most notable including: Komokos Little King Supreme, Little Kings Buck Echo and Little Kings Buckeroo Dejavu. In 1992 Teenie Jeanie’s offspring took grand champion in the produce of dam class, again in 1993 they took this title and then took reserve in 1994. Seven’s pedigree also goes back to Komokos King Tut a foundation stallion and proven producer of champion stock. His son, whom is also present in her pedigree, Komokos Lil Husseler, followed in his sire’s footsteps and produced many national champions and reserve champions. This stallion broke a record when he sold for $12,500, just three years later he sold again for $25000 to join the stable of Bob and Sandy Erwin whom at the time owned some of the greats such as Helock Brooks Egyptian King and Rowdy. He made a mark on the breed producing 72 foals in his lifetime.
Looking at this pedigree it’s clear that Free Rein’s Khonsu’s Illusive Moon has great potential in the show ring backed by some impressive bloodlines, and we can’t wait for him to get back into it come 2021. His first foal is expected August of 2020, by Its Showtymes Elantra and we couldn’t be more excited. We hope to prove him as a sire of champions as many of the greats in his pedigree were. This is one stallion to watch out for!
